IT Project For Remote Asset Management

Another client has almost one hundred properties across London, each with its own fire alarm system, including detectors, panic buttons and control panels. Paying for engineers to travel to these sites and deal with faults and maintenance was costing the client more than £300,000 per year.

I ran an IT project for the client, enabling it to connect all of its systems over the internet and remotely manage them from one location by:

  • Reviewing tender bids and procuring the right IT supplier
  • Forming the design team drawn from the client and supplier’s key departments
  • Managing procurement of the IT hardware to link the fire systems to the internet and ensure they were installed with minimum disruption to employees
  • Overseeing development of the software staff who would manage the systems centrally, making sure they were fully trained and confident about using it
  • Making sure all the right certification and compliances were in place
  • Piloting and delivering the ‘go-live’ of the new system to minimise risk to the client
  • As a result of these changes, I helped my client save £300,000 per year
